Excuses, Excuses.

Posted by RTaylor on Fri 22 of May, 2009 [19:39 UTC]

I'm updating this to let those people who care know that I haven't gone anywhere. It's just difficult to find the time to get onto the 'net when you're spending all of your time painting.

There will be updates to this page but, frankly, I'd like to get a decent body of new work together before I make them. Check back occasionally...

A bit of everything

Posted by RTaylor on Thu 04 of Dec, 2008 [09:25 UTC]

I updated the "Amy Portrait", "Figure in a Doorway", "Mudspace" and "Promise" pages and added a new section called "Techy Stuff", which will eventually deal with artsy sorts of topics like "How to build a canvas", How to stretch a canvas" and so on...

I have to build a stretcher for "Big Experiment" anyway and I may as well take advantage of that to add a few new articles.

I've re-formatted the "Oil Painting" pages as well.

New new stuff

Posted by RTaylor on Thu 27 of Nov, 2008 [09:44 UTC]

I've begun a new image in honor of moving to a new city. You can see the beginnings of that by following the "Promise" link in the "Section" menu.

New Old Stuff

Posted by RTaylor on Tue 18 of Nov, 2008 [10:20 UTC]

I shot and re-shot a few older images. There's a few that I've never put on-line before as well as some improved versions of a few things.

The watercolor pages have been re-formatted as well.

New Address

Posted by RTaylor on Thu 16 of Oct, 2008 [16:11 UTC]

A quick note to let folks know that I've moved to Rochester, Illinois, which is pretty, little town located just a few miles outside of Springfield. I figured that my son deserved to grow up around green fields, trees, dogs and horses rather than being forced to play in the parking lot behind my apartment in Chicago. I've been feeling the call of the wild myself, for the past few years.

Seeing as I've spent the better part of the past six weeks or so putting stuff into boxes, moving those boxes across the state, then unpacking those boxes and attempting to place the resultant mess into some semblance of order, I've not had the time to do a lot of painting or much that's appropriate to this website. Now that all the boxes have been moved and all of the services have been set up, you can expect to see much more activity here... maybe even a few pictures of wildlife.

Trees rock, by the way.

New Format

Posted by RTaylor on Wed 27 of Aug, 2008 [23:10 UTC]

I thought I'd try a slightly different format for some of my portfolio images and try to make them a little easier to navigate. Despite the smaller images on the portfolio pages, things do load a bit faster and are a little easier to read so... I'm seeing the whole thing as beneficial. You can see the spiffy new formatting by clicking on the Acrylic Painting section.

biggrin I do hope you like the new "Super Duper, Vastly Improved, Version 3 {or 4 or so} With Brand New Fancy, High Tech Section Headers" of the section menu.

Tub Fun

Posted by RTaylor on Wed 25 of Jun, 2008 [20:30 UTC]

I got a bit tired of working at the "Figure in a Doorway" drawing {See below} and decided that I needed to do a few quick {hopefully}, small paintings so that I could sort of clear my head and actually finish something this year.

Those paintings have been tentatively titled Mudspace and Etherspace. They can be reached through the menu at the top left.

Additionally, I added another entry to the Amy Portrait painting {blog}. All of them have a ways to go yet but maybe you'll find the posts interesting.

Another take on the "hybrid" idea

Posted by RTaylor on Sat 21 of Jun, 2008 [01:33 UTC]

...Still working at the "Figure in a Doorway" drawing {I'm up to something like a zillion or so hours by now.}.

Anyway, on a note that really has little to do with anything on this page {aside from the green color that predominates}, my wife and I have been spending a lot of time on our bikes lately... riding trails, camping, towing my son around, shopping, being free and enjoying Spring and so on... I was recently looking for a bike for my son and ran across thisexternal link, which just strikes me as one of the niftiest ideas around.

{Back to your regularly scheduled programming...}

After what seems like an awfully long period of time, I finalized the drawing {sketch} for Maelstrom.

Coffee Break

Posted by RTaylor on Thu 15 of May, 2008 [05:52 UTC]

I spent some time at building/priming canvases today and got another painting {barely} started. You can read about it by following the "Maelstrom" link in the Section Menu or by clicking on the thumbnail here. It is sort of fun.

There are several new photos of older paintings in my portfolio and I replaced a few of the nasty, old scans as well.

I've been editing video for the past few weeks so I haven't really had anything to put up here. I did come up with sketches/ideas for two more paintings though... one of which I'll do another blog for pretty soon and one of which will take a while. I did add a little to "Figure in a Doorway", a new review or two and some photos of some older paintings.
